My husband was a good sport today when we went to IKEA in northern Virginia. We got up early and drove from Richmond. My birthday gift from him was a Nikon 50 mm 1.8 D lens! I have been begging him for it and I was ecstatic when I got it. The lens takes beautiful pictures with the background softly blurred. It's the same lens that Bakerella uses. And yes, I made my husband carry it around IKEA so I could take pictures of random things to practice. He was a good sport modeling for me too. I was behind the camera the whole time so there are no pics of me.

That cheesecake looks delicious!
YUMMY - Cinnamon Rolls, Fries and Cheesecake - hello heaven!
Looks like a fun day! I loooove ikea! Wish we lived closer to one :)
Sounds like a fun birthday! What type of camera do you have? I have been searching for a new lens for my D40 that will blur the background as your new lens does, but I want to make sure that whatever I buy is compatible. Any suggestions?
OMG - I LOVE red velvet cake...and I LOVE cheesecake...and I have been to The Cheesecake Factory before. So HOW could I have missed this? I have to go and try it now...
OMG that cake looks AMAZING!
I love the Cheesecake Factory!!! I've never actually been to an Ikea (although I order way too much from their catalog) but I now really want to visit one soon!!! XOXO
Great pictures!! I am SO jealous of your lens. :) Happy Birthday!! :)
A girl after my own heart...Ikea and the Cheesecake factory! It doesn't get much better than that! Happy Birthday!
Hey Beth - the pictures look GREAT! And happy belated birthday - just one more thing we have in common (mine was 9/8). Anyway, I haven't stopped by in a while and I've been a total slacker on my own blog, but I'll check back more often and see how things are going with that lens!!!
I have just come across your blog and I am really enjoying reading your beautiful story.
One thing made me stop on this one, that cinnamon roll! In Norway they are called "bolle" and come with custard, cinnamon, icing or coconut and they are the most delicious things ever. I think I might need to book some plane tickets so I can pick up some!
