my first craft show!

My first ever craft show is this weekend. I love to do crafty stuff but I'm all about the baking! I am starting my own side business called Swanky Bakes! I do decorated sugar cookies, cupcakes, etc. I have no money to buy signage and the such, so I am making everything myself! Here is what I have started on so far...

I am making a sign to hang on a ribbon.

Then I glued the patterned paper onto a cardstock solid for stability. I'll string them tomorrow in case the glue on one of these decides to un-stick.

I bought this groovy punch at Michael's. It cuts hang tags out perfectly!

hawaiian honeymoon day 3

We woke up really early on the third day because our guide book said if you want to go to see Pearl Harbor you must go early to avoid the crowds. I remember leaving the hotel at 7:30 in the morning, only to feel extremely nauseous in the car. I made Justin find a McDonalds so that I could get a hash brown and hopefully feel better. We concluded after we got home that I had altitude sickness which gave me a horrible headache and a dizzy/nauseous feeling for days!

We got to Pearl Harbor around 8:30 am and we were given tickets for the 10 am tour. This place fills up fast! In the meantime we found a WWII submarine to tour. Justin really enjoyed it since he is into military stuff.

He actually removed the rope that says "do not sit on the tables." Rebel.

In front of the Arizona Memorial.

To get to the Arizona Memorial, you wait in a long time and then you see a 30 minute movie about Pearl Harbor. They warn you to dare not have your cell phone ring while on the memorial itself. We took a boat out to the middle of the harbor where the memorial is.

Memorial with the names of all the men lost on the Arizona that day. There are even men who survived and request to be buried at sea with the Arizona and their old shipmates. It must have really affected their lives. A sweet old man left this lei on the memorial wall and I saw him crying. It was really say. Lei's are the only thing you are allowed to throw into the water.

Oil still leaks out of the Arizona from below the water. They say that she is still crying for her men. I believe they said it was anywhere from 4-6 quarts of oil a day.

All I could think of while I was there was God Bless America!

After lunch we flipped through our Frommers Oahu guide and picked out a random restaurant. We ended up at a place called Sam Choy's. It was pretty good. A nice refuge from the Hawaiian heat!

After lunch we went to the Waikiki Aquarium to see some of the native ocean life. The place wasn't very big so we weren't there terribly long.

After the aquarium we weren't completely sure what to do, so we ended up just driving around the coast on a windy road to see what we could find. We got out on the side of the road to take in the beautiful views.

This giant sea lion was sunbathing on the beach. Trust me he was moving.

We kept driving up the coast and discovered this huge rocky edge in the ocean. I begged Justin not to go too close because the waves were crashing and I was afraid it would drag him to sea.

We were still feeling a bit adventerous so we found a hiking trail. It was really steep at some parts. The guidebook kept telling us that we would see a lighthouse. I told Justin that I was going to be very bummed if there wasn't a lighthouse. I believe this was called Maka Pu'u point.

Our reward? Gorgeous views!

After hiking was over (around 4:30) we decided to go back to the hotel for a quick nap before dinner. If we had only known that our quick nap would turn into an all-night sleep-a-thon because we woke up at 6 am the next morning starving to death because we didn't have dinner. We must have been exhausted!
