design wishlist

Our kitchen is the first room that I really, really want to get totally finished. Before I moved into to Justin's house I painted the kitchen a light and buttery yellow (Duron's Butter Pecan). Here is a list of things I want to get done and then put the before/after pictures on here.
  • Paint all of the wood trim a glossy white
  • Put up beadboard from the chair rail to the floor
  • Get a valance made for the last window without a treatment
  • Put up our new shelves (Ikea) over the new island/buffet piece
  • Paint the frame and add a chalkboard (see below)

Extensive list-

  • Get new cabinet doors (the existing ones are crackled and are ugly as can be)
  • Put in a new countertop
  • Install crown molding along the walls that do not have it
  • Get a new sink and range hood

I put these frames on one side of my fridge and it became it's own art gallery space. It looks so cool. I think I'm going to alternate pictures and artwork in them. They can stick anywhere.

I had been eyeing this mirror online for a while and now it is mine. Bwwaahaha. I get a little excited. I'm going to spray paint it glossy white and put a chalkboard in the middle. Do you love that idea as much as me? The best part is that it is only $25 and a decent size! Yes!

We ordered this island/buffet from Crate and Barrel in the begining of December and it will finally be here on Friday! Thankfully Justin is off on Friday so we're going to ride out and pick it up and put it together. We bought some shelves from Ikea on Sunday to go over it to hold cookbooks and my future collection of vintage teapots.

Our living room has the big "man" sofas, you know the ones that are super stuffed and recline? If I had it my way I would have white slip-covered sofas. Sigh, maybe one day, but for now it's the big sofas. I switched out ye olde bachelor pillows and replaced them with four that I got on a super sale at Pottery Barn! I was also really fortunate to have my draperies custom-made by the workroom at my former design job. Of course I am always wanting to change something but here are the few things that I would like to add to the room (or now).

Existing fabric on my draperies (not on pillows)

2 frames for over the loveseat
I actually already have these but I need artwork to put in them. I'm looking at fun prints on Etsy. They are 20" square and hold a 12" x 12" photo. Really nice beveling on the mat too.

New pillow for sofa
(a little nervous this may be too "key-limey")

Love the etsy pillow! Don't be nervous about the green, I have apple green in my living room as the accent color on ivory and black houndstooth furniture and it really makes it pop! You'll love it!

As for the beadboard, have you seen the beadboard wallpaper that's paintable? It's all over blogland and most swear by it.
