weekend recap and ramblings

I interviewed for a job last Thursday for an odd little educational center that is opening in our area. They called me that afternoon and offered the job to me and asked if I could come to orientation/training the next morning at 8 am. Being that I have not much else to do, I decided to go and see what it was all about. Well, it was odd. They told us that training was unpaid (first red flag). Then they said only five children were enrolled in the school (second red flag, they hired four teachers). They also do not celebrate holidays so neither will any of the students (another red flag because if they do not celebrate holidays, the center should be for people like that too, I don't think you deprive 4 year olds of celebrating holidays). There were some other odd things that I just did not agree with so I turned the position down. You know when you have a funny instinct about something deep inside? Well, I just had a sense about this place from the get go, so I am really happy about this decision. It's almost a relief!

We hung out with our friends Grace and Jason @ Watch Me Grow on Friday night and went to a new restaurant that just opened in town. Afterwards we went back to their house and we played Super Mario Brothers Wii for four hours. We are nuts. We seriously have too much fun playing this game. I don't know what we'll even do when we beat the whole thing. Sad. They burned me the Zac Brown Band cd and I L.O.V.E. it. I have not heard such a great cd in a long time!

The blizzard of 2010 hit us and we got a lot of accumulation on Saturday. Of course as luck would have it, my husband had to work, just like all of the other storms that have come. It seems every time it snows it falls on his work schedule. He's a police officer and he works very long shifts so I was snowed in all by myself. As a crazy person, I decided to clear off my car at 6:30 pm and trek out to the main strip of restraunts to get some food. Every single place was closed. Even McDonalds. I was devastated so I went home and ate a whole box of that Kraft ranch and bacon pasta salad. Not good for the thighs. I thought for a minute I was going to be sick after all that + the whole bag of Sweetarts I ate.

I went shopping with my sister and bought a cardi from Nordstrom for .23 cents! They have these great 3/4 length cardi's in bright springy colors and they were on sale for $39.99. I had a gift card with $40 and some change, so my grand total was .23 cents. Oh the thrill of the hunt!

J.Crew has these Essie nail polishes now and I fell in love with this color. It's called California Coral and looks like such a flattering shade. I'm waiting for my dumpy thumb nail to grow a bit from the last time it broke off, so hopefully next week my nails will be gorgeous. Isn't it funny how buying something as a simple nail polish can really lift your spirits?

Hope everyone had a great weekend. People in D.C. take it easy and be safe in all that snow!

lol, I know all too well the anguish of working hard to go get food only to be disappointed and then eating terrible, regretable things! So relateable...

My husband and I are in love with Super Mario Brothers for Wii. He has beaten the game but is now going back and getting all the gold coins and they open up new levels...I'm on world 5! I love that pasta salad you made...and I know how it is to be snowed in all alone! Sucks!

A) Zac Brown Band is awesome. Don't you love "Free?" "Sic 'Em on a Chicken" though...not so much.

B) I hear ya on getting pleasure from buying little things. Just a $10 shirt from Target will keep me happy!

C) Love the nail polish. Won't it be nice when there's some weather to match?
