A few people have left comments asking me about taking the Praxis and if I was in school to be a teacher. The answer is yes! I have never really talked about it because when I worked at my last job I never wanted to tell them what I was doing, so I never blogged about for fear that they would find my blog.Last spring I decided at the last minute to start classes at the University of Richmond. They have a great program called the School of Continuing Studies, which is meant to propel people further through school that already have a bachelor's degree. I've always wanted to teach, so I just went for it. It hasn't been easy but this is my third and last semester before I start to student teach in the fall. There is one class I need to take over the summer but I believe that I can do it all online. After student teaching in the fall, I'm done! I've taken the Praxis 1 and 2 and this Saturday I take the VRA, the Virginia Reading Assessment. This is a four hour long test to assess your knowledge on all of the content of reading and I am scared to death! It is intense!
I've also been baking a lot of cookies to try to build a business in case I don't have a teaching job right away. Lately there have been so many budget cuts in the local school systems that I know I'm not going to get a position right away. It will also help us financially as I get through my student teaching, since that will be my full time job for a semester. So, if you know anyone who needs cookies, please send them my way! I really would appreciate it!

That's great! Good luck with the VRA!
I'm in a very similar program...all online. I recently spilled the beans to everyone...and even quit my awesome job to focus on teaching.
I am actually scheduled to take the Praxis II Elementary Ed Content Knowledge in April. How was it? Any study tips???
I'm in love with the cookies!!! The Easter ones are my favorites!!! Glad you commented so I could find your blog!
Good luck with it all! How much are your cookies and do you ship? Do you have a website with prices?
Good luck sweetie... you're going to do great on the test I just know it! And yes, I'll be needing some cookie treats VERY VERY soon =)
I'm going to be starting the same (or similar) thing this summer! Good luck with everything!
I love your cookies! Unfortunately I don't have any occasion for them yet...maybe my niece's b-day in June. I'll ask my sister what the party theme is!
yay for taking a leap of faith, for both teaching and your baking skills!!
you will surely find success!
good luck with the test lady...
Congrats on being almost done with school. I'm doing a similar program and I still have a year and two summers left;( I never thought I wanted to be a teacher but I couldn't imagine a different job now.
Good luck with the VRA! Do you know what grade you will be teaching for student teaching in the fall? Teaching is such a rewarding career, you'll absolutely love it! Since we've moved to CA (land of no teaching jobs) I've really missed it!
Hi there, stumbled across your blog and wanted to let you that I recently took the VCLA and VRA, as well. This post is several days old, so you may have taken the tests already, but if not, do NOT STRESS. They are such easy tests and I finished in half the time. I think they just say 4 hours for those who are super slower test takers. What PRAXIS are you taking?
You go girl! I am a fellow SpidUR! Just love your blog and your etsy cookies are too sweet. My sister still lives in Richmond and I am going to tell her to get your cookies for her son's bday! So cute1
