Sick

Well, I thought I'd missed getting the flu this year.  Obviously from my now constant body aches and chills, NOT so!  I went to church yesterday and felt great, but around one in the afternoon I started feeling achy.  I stayed at church taking pictures for our directory until three and went to my parents to relax (because who better than Mama to make you feel better).  By yesterday evening I had the chills, body aches, sore throat, runny nose and zero appetite.  I have a doctors appointment today, so I'm just hoping I can get some Tamiflu.

The flu is the worst! My fingers are even aching as I type this post.  Ugh.  The flu usually stays with me for about a week.  Major bummer.  Did the flu get you down this season?  How did you cope?

Tuesday Randoms

I meant to do this post on Monday but it was out-of-control filled with business.  I worked in an autistic classroom all day (wow...draining) and then went to help my sweet friend Rachel with a "ladies night" jewelry show that she was a part of.  Check out her displays and hand-made vintage jewelry HERE.  Thanks again Rachel for a fun night and the Mum Necklace, color of my choice, which I am totally in love with.

I've also been in a bit of a blogger funk lately.  I am at a loss for what to say.  Maybe I need to get a notebook and jot down ideas when I think of them...If I could ever remember to do that.  I am SO not type-A.

1.  I'm having an issue.  There is some WT behavior happening across the street from us in the form of dirt bikes.  They are so loud I cannot think.  I've called the police several times and they can't seem to help.  I'm literally going crazy because it happens every. single. day.

2.  I started taking gummy vitamins.  They are not just for kids ya'll.  They are so yummy I look forward to eating my gummy vites in the AM.  My nails are now strong and crazy shiny.  Love!

3.  I took some pics of a friends daughter this weekend.  How cute is she?  My favorite thing ever is to take pictures of kids.  I used the Noel Joy Picture Pop action and they turned out beautifully. (Photo saavy people:  How can I re-size them to look sharper online?  When I click them to appear in a new window, they are much sharper.  Help!)

4.  My BFF Ashley is having twins (as I've mentioned before, but I am happy to announce that she is expecting a boy AND a girl!  Way too exciting for words!  We are now on the hunt for A-Z letters to make an alphabet wall (see below).  Inspiration is from Project Nursery, an excellent resource for nursery decorating ideas!

5.  I just got highlights after almost three months.  Everything is better when your blonde (and don't have trashy looking roots).  Happy sigh.

6.  Speaking of hair, I'm obsessed with my girl Shasta's hair.  Love her!  My stylist Rachel said I must get a haircut for my next visit and I must show her this pic.

7.  I've decided I follow too many blogs.  I didn't check my reader for a day and I missed about 85 different posts.  It's almost stressful trying to catch up!  What do you do?

8.  I may need this Essie polish for the Spring.  How perfect is Peepshow pink?

9.  I may now need to stare at fitness models in order to stop the pizza/cookie/french fry cravings.  They are intense and I just want to eat so badly.  I could tear up the Pizza Hut lunch buffet for real.  Yumm-o.

P.S. - The Red Lobster commercials have to stop.  The cheddar garlic biscuits.  Augh!

10.  I really, really, really want the Anthropologie Pom Shift for Easter.  Too die for cute!  Now I've just got to follow random #9 or possibly just have my mouth wired shut.  Have I mentioned that I'm hungry?

This Is The Stuff

Road rage because someone cut me off, running late for work, when I can't find my car keys, frustration with people in the checkout line, being impatient with a husband who isn't driving fast enough to get somewhere I'm looking forward to going and we're running late.  Story of my life, but I know it's not right!  I heard this latest song release from Francesca Battistelli called "This Is The Stuff" and it perfectly describes being frustrated with the little things and the song line "might not be what I would choose, but this is the stuff you use," sums it up perfectly!  I shouldn't let these thing get to me!  He uses it all for His good!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.  - Romans 8:28

Happy Saturday friends!

Layla Grace Fashion Fix

Just in time for spring, Layla Grace is now offering gorgeous fashion for you ladies!  In addition to their chic handbags, they have stylish cardigans (read:  Emma Pillsbury from Glee), modern frock dresses and tops from four fab designers.  Here are some of my absolute favorites...

The Charlotte Tarantola Matchpoint Cardigan in red is the perfect cardigan for spring!  This classic cardigan adds a pop of color for layering over a white tank.  I am just loving it!  There are plenty more cardigans where this one comes from ya'll.

The Amy Butler Josephine Handbag (shown in Buttercup Tangerine) is a modern twist on a classic design.  The bag is perfectly constructed from organic cotton (so soft!) and its leather handles give it such a sophisticated feel.  It is  ideal to coordinate with your spring ensembles ladies!  Love me some Amy Butler!

And for you expecting moms out there, have you met my friend Petunia Pickle Bottom?  I seriously love these bags and I don't even have children yet.  But like I told my husband, when I find out one day we are expecting, then Mama's gonna need a PPB bag.  The designs are chic and modern and most of the bags are protected in a vinyl to ward off spills.  They are just so darned smart those designers.  PS - They sell the most adorable baby clothes too.  See??

The Ella Moss Khloe Tank is a timeless look for spring.  I would pair it with jeans and gold jewelry (by you-know-who) with cute flats.  The stripes are so on-trend for the warmer weather.  There is also a version with sleeves!

Graphic Designers Help!

I need help from all of you saavy graphic design ladies out there.  I'm designing a party invitation in Photoshop Elements, mainly because I refuse to pay for one.  I've downloaded some fun fonts but now I'd like to jazz it up with graphics and a patterned background.  If you could supply any help as to where to buy graphics (or get them for free) or ideas of how to design in PSE, I'd be so grateful.  I know I can do this but I'm just not sure how to import items to PSE and insert them into my invite. HELP!  Please!

My Favorite Beauty Products

I'm linking up today with Kelly's SUYL to bring you my favorite beauty products!  I used to be a product junkie.  I remember going to Bloomingdales NYC in the ninth grade on a choral extended field trip.  I went straight to the makeup counters and saw so many things that were way more fun than what they had at Rite-Aid.  I left with Urban Decay glittery eyeliner, eyeshadow, and Stila lipglass, feeling like the coolest, un-cool ninth grader ever.

Today I tend to stick with what I know than experimenting with tons of different products that are on the trendy side.  I'm not the Bath & Body Works fanatic that I used to be; I feel a little more grown up now.  I'm very picky about scents and do not like putting three different strong scents on in one day (i.e. scented lotion, body wash and parfum (oh la la).  So, here is my list of my absolute favorites.

My makeup life was completely changed when I was introduced to Bare Minerals.  I was in the middle of a terrible breakout and my sister had just started working at Sephora (lucky me).  My mom and I went to visit her at work and she said you MUST try this new powder foundation that is Bare Minerals.  I told her up and down and sideways that nothing of the sort would work for me.  I need coverage!  Well boy was I wrong!  I left that day with a starter kit and have not put on liquid foundation since April 2005 (yes, I remember the month, it was that life-changing!).  It covers so well and looks so natural.  I absolutely love it.  They came out with a Matte version but I do not recommend it.  The color is actually darker when you buy the Matte version, so stick with the Original.  I use the foundation, mineral veil and warmth powder.  Warmth powder is the most natural looking powder that gives you a pretty glow without looking over-bronzed.  If you have been skeptical about Bare Minerals, just go give it a try.  You may be pleasantly surprised!

Makeup I also use includes:  Bobbi Brown eyeshadows and liner, Clinique brow pencil, High Lengths mascara (love!), Lancome and Mary Kay lip gloss (love MK's Fancy Nancy color), and Clinique lipstick.

My favorite shampoo and conditioner are Bumble and Bumble Thickening.  It is pricey (I got my latest for Christmas) but leaves my fine, limp hair very soft and bouncy.  The smell is also divine!  I have tried so many volumizing shampoos and this is just by far my favorite.  I love this stuff!  I also use Aveda's Blue Malva shampoo on some days to keep my blonde looking bright and fresh.  I kick off the routine with the Aveda shampoo and then re-shampoo with Bumble.  The smell of the Blue Malva could be bottled for body oil.  So, so amazing!

I use Pureology's Root Lift for leave-in volume.  You spray it into your roots before you blow dry and, voila, instant pouf!  There have been so many products that I have tried to pouf up my hair, but this one is currently what I've found to work.  Plus, I've bought it a few times so I can say I am a repeat user.  It really works!  Ulta usually gives out coupons and discounts at their store, so I never pay full price for it ($20).  I blow dry upside down and then straighten with my Chi flat iron to zap the frizz.

And when worst comes to worst, I'll load this Oscar Blandi dry shampoo into my roots.  The smell is not the most pleasant to me (especially when travelling) but it does the job.  I'll use it on my roots to absorb shine when I can't shower (which rarely happens) and throw my hair back into a semi-messy ponytail.  I'd prefer taking a shower every day because my hair is so fine it needs to be washed, but in the most dire situations, I'll use and carry on!

When I'm done with my shower, I use Neutrogena's Body Oil.  It is so light and absorbs almost instantly, leaving you feel so silky and moisturized.  One thing I absolutely can't stand is putting sticky lotion on, so this is my alternative.  Sometimes I'll even get in the bath and pour some into the water so my whole body gets super soft.  The scent is also very light and pretty.  I highly recommend!

To get squeaky clean in the shower I use Dove soap.  As boring as it may sound, it leaves me feeling so clean and the smell is just enough for me.  We buy this stuff in bulk and I still seem to go through it really fast.  It never dries you out and always leave you so fresh and clean!

And call me crazy but I use Clinique's M lotion for men to moisturize.  Why?  It's the same exact formula as what they put in the women's version, but it's cheaper.  I guess they figure women will pay more when it say for women on it.  But they are the very same thing!  Plus I like squeezing it out of a tube rather than pumping it out of a little bottle.

I also really enjoy Mary Kay's Satin Hands set for smooth as can be hands.  The rough winter months can leave your fingers cracked and dry, but with Satin Hands they look and feel better.  I love having soft hands!  Plus the soft peach scent is really pretty and leaves you smelling like you got a professional manicure.

Do you have any beauty products that you can't live without?  I would LOVE to hear about them.  I'm always willing to try something new (as long as it isn't super duper smelly).

Bringing Out My Inner Cheerleader

Blurry cheer photo from 1999 (Before the days of le cool cameras)

I'd like to think that I was in pretty good shape back in the day!  Cheering in middle school and high school definitely had me moving all the time and I was a skinny little thing.  Can you spot me in my senior year picture above?  As if the big neon arrow didn't give you enough help already!  I thought (at the time) cheering was the center of life (lame young self, lame) and I just loved going to football games, spray painting the football banners with my mad graffiti skills, wearing spray glitter in my double french braids and toe-touching, pom-poming, rah-rahing my heart out on Friday nights.

Too bad I don't move that much anymore!  Well, after much research I have found some workout videos that I think I must have.  I need to bring out my inner cheerleader and get her in shape again (even though she's well on her way).

Have you ever tried these videos by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders?  They look like so much fun!  I want to have those abs!  If doing this workout video will get you to half of what these girls look like (fitness-wise), I'm sold!  Are there any workout videos that you swear by?  I enjoy going to the gym but sometimes I just can't find the time or motivation to go.  I'll just be here in my living room rah-rahing and high kicking my thighs off!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday friends!  I can't believe we are already halfway through this week.  I am linking up with sweet Jamie at This Kind of Love for WILW!  I did The Shred last night and man am I sore!  How can I workout at the gym for and hour and a half and try to make myself sore (and it sometimes happens) versus Jillian Michaels kicking my tail for twenty minutes and making me hurt?!  I feel like the more sore you are after a workout, the harder you worked it and pushed it.  I love that feeling now (I use to not).  However, two minutes of wimp push-ups make me feel just downright shameful.  Upper body strength, where are you?  Okay, back to WILW!

I am loving this J.Crew Cashmere Femme Cardigan!  The cut and color in the picture is just perfect!  It would be one of those neutral pieces that you could pair with almost anything.  It's on sale for $114 but I just can't commit.  Cashmere is nice, but saving your Christmas gift cards for a super deal is nicer.

I am loving my new Spring Stella & Dot jewelry pieces.  You see, not only do I sell the jewelry, but I get to wear it all the time.  My jewelry collection has quadrupled ever since starting and I love having all of the beautiful pieces to wear.  I paired the Rio Triple-Strand necklace (above) with a J.Crew navy and ivory nautical tank and ivory cardigan (with navy pants) and I felt so chic.  Check out my SHOP if you want to peruse the beautiful new pieces this Spring!

I'm loving this sweet organized home office.  We are in the middle of clearing out our old office furniture and bringing in some new pieces.  It's not new, but new to us.  Since my grandmother passed in November, I expressed interest in her office furniture.  My mom said that we are welcome to it, so we're going to rearrange.  It's not fancy, but it will be nice to have a piece of her in our home.  Images like this are so inspiring and I can't wait to start on the re-do of ours!

I'm loving this Chloe perfume.  My sister bought me a roller ball bottle for Christmas and I haven't gotten tired of it yet.  It is so feminine and pretty.  Probably my favorite scent I've used in a while (and I am picky, picky, picky when it comes to scents).  Sephora sells the little roller balls for much less than the big perfume bottles so you can use it without committing to an expensive full-sized bottle.

I'm loving the thought of peonies in the Spring.  I receive a beautiful gardening catalog, Khlem's Song Sparrow and they sell almost every peony variety known to man.  I'm so inspired for my Spring garden when I receive their catalog.  If you have a green thumb, go order their catalog (free, of course) and be inspired by their beautiful plants and flowers!  I can hardly wait to get out there, pull the weeds and plant my flowers.  When the little peony shoots start coming up in my flower bed, my heart skips.  I can't wait!

{via Pinterest}

I am also loving this imaginary place where I would pot and plant flowers.  A girl can dream!  How amazing would this be to have in the ole backyard?  I'm not sure if I would ever come back into the house again.  Heck, this could be my house for all I care!  The architecture is amazing and the vertical board and batten siding is perfect!

I'm also loving this pretty ponytail.  How could you not?

{via Pinterest}

Finally, I am loving rainbow cake.  One day, I will attempt to make one because they are just dag'on amazing.  How special would it be to cut into one of these if you weren't expecting it? Wow is all I've gotta say about that!  There are several people online that make these online but One Charming Party has a tutorial!

And of course, I am always loving my husband, family, Lord and all my sweet friends.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!  What are you loving today?
