13 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How far along?  13 weeks (3 days)

Size of the baby?  Baby is about three inches long and the size of a lemon.

Maternity Clothes?  Oh how I love my maternity clothes!  I've been wearing dresses lately and they are much more comfy than pants.  I feel like my tummy can breathe!

Gender?  Justin thinks boy, I'm starting to lean girl.  When I talk about the baby or think about it, I think "she".  I really don't care just as long as he or she is healthy!

Movement?  No movement yet.  Maybe in a fews weeks!

Sleep?  Sleep has gotten much better.  I bought the Boppy body pillow and it helps a lot with my back pain.  The real pain about the pillow is flipping the entire thing at 3 am.  Now that is fun...not!

Cravings?  I am really into milk and turkey sandwiches, but don't worry, I am heating them.  I've decided to cut out refined sugars for the most part, but if you offer me a piece of chocolate cake I'm not going to turn it down!  I also gave up eating Easter candy and I've felt much better the past few days without sugar in my system.

Symptoms?  I've started to get headaches but that's about it.  I'm so fortunate not to have had any morning sickness!  I did get nauseous once at school because all the kids had dry erase markers and the smell got to me.  I stuck my head outside for some fresh air and was fine, thank goodness!

What I miss?  I've been thinking a lot about how this is the last chunk of time where Justin and I will be together, just us two.  We love to go out and do fun things around town together.  I know that will never be the same and it will probably be better in my mind once the baby comes, I'm just sad sometimes that our time of just being a couple is running short.

Best Moment of the Week?  My first graders at school are starting to notice the bump.  They have been giving me hugs and telling me, "Mrs. Lassiter, it really looks like you could have a baby."  So cute!  I haven't told them yet, so I just smile and say, "I guess we will just have to see."

I also had the best pedicure of my life this week.  My mom treated me to a deluxe and let me tell you, it was amazing.  They massaged and rubbed my sore feet for over 30 minutes.  It was heaven. Ever since it started getting really hot around here, I've been wearing all of my old and very uncomfortable sandals.  I went to Nordstrom this week and bought these Born sandals.  They are so comfortable and I just love anything made by Born.

Melissa - Liz - Grace - Moi (looking super tired)

The girls from our small group went out for a girls night and we had so much fun.  We went out to dinner, stopped by the candy shop and then painted pottery.  We had so much fun.  Here is the best pic of the bump from this week.  My friend Liz is also pregnant!  We had a great time.

Also this week, Justin and I went to see the Bridesmaids movie premiere.  It doesn't come out for two more weeks but I scored free tickets and we ended up being the first people in line for it (let me tell you, Justin was just thrilled about that).  It was fall-out-of-your-seat-choke-on-your-popcorn kind of funny.  Now, it was very raunchy at parts so don't say I didn't warn you!  Overall a hilarious movie.

12 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How far along?  12 weeks (has it really been a week already?)

Size of the baby?  Baby is the size of a plum.  I'm not sure how they come up with these comparisons!  Most of baby's organs and systems are formed.  Grow, baby, grow!

Maternity Clothes?  Mostly just maternity pants because they are oh-so comfy.  I want to make a trek out to Old Navy for some maternity tops and dresses.  I was walking around on Monday with maternity pants and a reg. top on and I felt like it may have been a smidge too short.  I do have one mama top, see it in the picture below.

Gender?  Come on June!

Movement?  It's probably way too early to feel anything, but I have felt these odd sensations in my lower abdomen that are pretty hard to explain.

Sleep?  I think a pregnancy pillow may be in my future.  My lower back has been hurting recently, especially when I walk or do yard work.  It hurt really bad last night and I used my husband's pillow to stick behind my back.  If I find myself rolled over onto my stomach, it really hurts!

Cravings?  Cravings are much better this week.  I'm eating more normally now.  I even ate a giant cup of broccoli last night and it was so good.  I couldn't have stomached that several weeks ago.

Symptoms?  Very sore ta-tas.  (Sorry mom.)

Best Moment of the Week?  Going to the doctor's office and hearing the heartbeat.  What a special visit.  It made everything seem so real.  I can't wait to go back in May and hear it again!

Pic from this week...Me, Janet and Ashley at Ashley's shower

Janet was the art secretary at Longwood University, where Ashley and I met being art students.  She was like our college mom and seven years after graduation, we are all still so close.  Love these ladies!

.Com at Last!

I finally broke down and got a custom domain for my blog.  I found this great tutorial at Fabulous K Creative on how to easily switch over and not lose all of my followers on the sidebar.  The cost is $10 per year for Blogger to host your own custom domain.  Not too shabby!  My new blog address is {aweddingstoryblog.com} but don't worry about switching over in your readers, it should automatically switch for you.  I was getting really tired of seeing my long, drawn-out site address so it was time for a change!

Boy or Girl?

I had a doctors appointment today and it went so great!  I got to hear the heart rate and as she was waving the wand over my stomach, I waited with bated breath.  As soon as I heard th whoosh whoosh sound I was ecstatic!  The heart rate was very high, at 179.  Does that mean girl?  So, with that being said, if you have had a baby, what was the heart rate?  I know that higher heart rates can indicate "girl" but do you ever really count on that to be true?  Oh, and the Chinese Predictor chart says "boy"  I truly would be happy with either gender but it's so exciting to think about it!

11 Weeks

While most people won't be interested in this (and that's okay), I really want to do weekly updates so I can look back one day and look at the progress that I made during the pregnancy.  It's already flying by so I know unless I write it down, I'll probably forget.  My pregnancy brain is in FULL swing.  I forgot about something terribly important this week at school and I'm still mortified.  I am so embarrassed that I can't even mention it, but trust me, pregnancy certainly affects the mind!  And sorry but no photo today.  The hubby is working and the self portraits were just not cutting!

Pregnancy Highlights

How far along?  11 weeks (but in my twelfth week)

Size of the baby?  Baby is the size of a lime.  Whoa.

Maternity Clothes?  I did go to Motherhood and got a few pairs of pants.  I don't know if I'll ever go back.  They are so comfy.  A few weeks ago my stomach was too bloated to comfortably wear my regular pants buttoned so I used the Bella Band.  It worked but I wasn't so impressed.  You're constantly fixing it and maternity pants are just more comfy!

Gender?  We'll find out in June.  Justin swears it's a boy.  I don't care either way!

Movement?  Not that I can feel.

Sleep?  I'm sleeping pretty well but I cannot lay on my stomach, it's just too sensitive.  Sometimes I have to get up to go to the bathroom and I definitely wake up when I roll over.  Mostly, I'm just really tired.

Cravings?  You don't want to know.  But since you asked:  Captain Crunch cereal, anything milk, macaroni, bagels with cream cheese, fruit, jelly beans.  The first few weeks that I was pregnant not much sounded good, except for Carnation Instant Breakfast.  How weird?

Symptoms?  I'm hungry all the time.  I ate toaster strudel (I know, the nutritional content in that must really boost brain power) and drank a huge glass of milk.  An hour later I ate a huge tub of assorted melon bites.  For snack I had goldfish crackers.  Lunch was interesting.  I have a strange gag reflex kicking in all of a sudden.

Best Moment of the Week?  This is said in total sarcasm, but we went to a local baseball game and we had just eaten dinner.  I was lying back in the seat (sticking my gut out) in the car while we parked and the parking attendant asked how far along I was.  I don't know if people should be asking me that already.  Sorta embarrassing.

Doctor's appointment tomorrow!  Hopefully I can hear the heartbeat.  I've seen it but I'm dying to know the heart rate!

A Twins Baby Shower

Last week I threw a small baby shower for one of my best girl friends, Ashley, who is expecting twins. It was mostly for her family so we had it at her mom's beautiful home.  We kept the decorations simple and although you can't see it from the pictures, balloons were floating about all of the rooms.  We had such a good time!  Now I just need baby boy and baby girl to come so I can give them some lovin'!  Enjoy the pictures!

This diaper wreath took me almost zero time to make and it was so, so easy.  It makes an adorable decoration for baby showers and also the hospital door for baby's arrival!

Sisters will be sisters!

And I had to include a picture of us where we're not so silly pointing at each other's bumps!

P.S. - My sweet friend Robyn started her very own blog!  Check her out at The Robyn's Nest

Baby on Board

Notice anything different on my blog?  Perhaps a ticker underneath the header?  Go ahead, take a look....

That's right, I am pregnant!

We are ecstatic, I feel great and we are so thankful to be expecting.  Estimated due date is the first week of November.  Justin is over the moon.  I can't wait to go into more details because there are SO many but I just wanted to first share our amazing news.  If you've noticed that I haven't been blogging so much lately, that is pretty much why!  Hello fatigue!  I also recently started a long-term sub position at my school and life is so busy.  We feel like this is truly such a blessing and are so thankful to God for this gift.  Every time I sing worship songs in church I tear up because I am so thankful.

Bonus?  One of my best girl friends is also expecting (twins!) in a few months.  It is going to be so much fun to  have children close together in age!  I am so looking forward to everything in store for us!  I would ask for your prayers that everything will go smoothly and that the baby is healthy.  We would surely appreciate it!

Sorry about the grande face...it's only just begun!

Final Four Excitement

Richmond is abuzz with excitement about VCU making it to the NCAA Final Four!  If they could beat Kansas last week, they can beat Butler tonight!  We're routing for the black and gold tonight.  It's going to be a great game.  Could they go all the way?
