Weekend Recap

Usually we are pretty low key on the weekends but this past weekend was super busy.  There were so many things on the agenda and I think Avery may have had more fun than anyone.  Oh to be so little again!

Justin was off on Friday so we headed down to the Children's Museum in Richmond.  Since we have a membership it's nice to get out and let Avery play there because the girl literally has so much fun.  She could probably stay there all day if I let her.  She has a play vegetable fascination and walks around the entire time she plays with a veggie in her hand.  It cracks us up.  They have a great little farm area and she loves to push buttons to make animal sounds and go to the farmers market.

There is also a fun school, a bank, hospital, grocery store, theater, art studio and more!

Avery's favorite is the ambulance.  Go figure!

When we had been at the museum for about an hour it started snowing, so we bundled up and went home.  I've really gotten into making soups lately and I'd been looking for an excuse to make an Olive Garden chicken and gnocchi soup recipe.  I bought this minced garlic jar at Target because it's a pain to mince garlic cloves and these were already marinating in their garlicy glory so I tried it.  It makes everything taste so good!

The soup on the other hand was okay.  It smelled delicious but didn't have as much flavor as I'd hoped.  Looks like Justin will have to take me to Olive Garden to get my soup fix.  I just love gnocchi!

We woke up on Saturday to a beautiful layer of snow on the ground.  It didn't last long though, and by afternoon most of it had melted.  I headed off to a kids bible study training that I've become a part of.  When that was over we dropped Avery off at my mom's house so we could go to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to see a really popular exhibit.  I really do appreciate art and had a great time admiring Chihuly's glass pieces.  The pictures really do not do it justice, but the exhibit was amazing.

We went to dinner that evening to celebrate my father in law's birthday and we had so much fun.  Avery loves going out to eat because she gets to have all kinds of yummy things to keep her quiet.  When we got home I slipped on black ice in our driveway and fell right on my backside.  It was not pretty.

On Sunday we went to church and came home to crock pot mac and cheese I made that morning.  It was so good and southern and I will share the recipe soon.  Unfortunately I left the crock pot on warm a little too long and we had crunchy mac by evening.  Lesson learned.

A friend of Avery's had a birthday party so we went to that in the afternoon.  Avery just loves going to play at other people's houses.  She will even stick a strange paci in her mouth or drink someone else's bottle if we're not careful.  I think Avery's motto is "su casa es mi casa."  She will take over in a hurry!

Whew, I am tired just thinking about the business of the weekend but it was a lot of fun.

It sounds like you had a busy but great weekend. I can't wait for your crock pot mac and cheese. I'm a sucker for anything you can throw in the crock pot, especially mac and cheese :)
