I've never longed for Spring and warmer weather like I have this winter.
It has been so cold and rainy and downright blah. Call it the winter blues.
But what comes along with winter weather? Winter germs. And we've had plenty to go around.
Avery has been to the doctor three times in the past two weeks. It started out with a mild fever, runny nose, and those lovely cold symptoms. She got really miserable with the congestion so I took her to the doctor and she had an ear infection. Third one since December.
After all of that misery ended about a week and a half later, I thought there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Until this Sunday when the most active child I know slept on me for our 1.5 hour church service.
This never, ever happens. Ever.
Then yesterday morning she wanted nothing but to lay on me and do nothing else.
THIS NEVER HAPPENS.
So I took Avery to the doctor for a sick visit at a location at the other end of Richmond. I wasn't sure where I was going and literally just around the corner for the doctor's office Avery throws up everywhere. Like nonstop and everywhere. I hadn't found the doctors office yet and starting tearing up. I called my mom asking what to do, because I didn't have a change of clothes or even a napkin in the car.
I parked the car and speed walked into the doctors office to tell the very unhelpful receptionist what had happened. She spent forever looking for paper towels for me. I ran back to the car and tried to clean up as much as I could but it had seeped into every crevice of the car seat and soaked Avery's outfit.
We were a sight!
{It must be noted that my mother is grandmother of the year, as she went to my house for a change of clothes and came all the way to the doctors office to help us!}
The doctor tested her for strep and the flu but we left with a Norovirus diagnosis. Avery ended up laying on me for the rest of the day until bedtime and then her daddy rocked her for about three hours. He is a good soul.
Ultimately Avery woke up at 8 a.m. this morning and to my surprise she had no fever and was acting like herself! I'm not sure how this happened, besides the work of our wonderful God, but I am so thankful that she is better. I'm a little unsure now if she did/does have the Norovirus after only one spell of throwing up, but I guess today's diapers will tell for sure.
She is eating Cheerios, drinking Pedialyte, and dancing around to her favorite shows. All around, herself!
I'm so ready for Spring and less germs, less blahs!

Oh, I am soooo with you! My 4 month old has been sick EVERY.SINGLE.DAY since starting daycare on January 7th. We've had bronchiolitis, sinus infection, ear infection, viral infection, fever, cough, congestion. We are doing breathing treatments daily, and we had to go to the ER on Saturday night. I am sick to death of this weather. Cold, rainy, ick. It's bad enough she has to be in daycare with all the nasty germs, but they are so much worse when it's cold. Come on, Spring!! We mommies need to see it soon.
OMG...this is my life!!! Our throwing up started last Thursday...we thought things were getting better, and then again on Monday. Back to the pedi yesterday. And we still have a cranky baby with the other end of the bug if you know what I mean. It's been awful. I mean awful doesn't even describe it! Anyway, I know how you feel. I just keep saying...I NEED spring like tomorrow. No germs, warm weather, and I am already dreading next winter at this point. Lol...I just can't get over how sick and overall crappy this winter has been! We dealing with tons of rain today, which is no fun, but at least washing away most of the snow that's left. Us Mama's need some warm weather and sunshine ASAP!! So glad to hear Avery is feeling better today and I hope she continues on that path!
