I had to go dairy free 3 years ago (amongst other food allergies)...it is hard but there are lots of alternatives at health food stores now. You should be safe with lots of vegan options (they even make vegan cream cheese and lots of vegan desserts). If you need to have a sweet fix, coconut milk ice cream is pretty good, and newmans own makes wheat-free, dairy-free newman o's cookies (like oreos). Earth Balance sells an awesome soy-free, dairy free butter alternative. I use that and olive oil a ton.

If your eating out, just make sure to ask if things are cooked in butter and if so, ask if the butter can be substituted with olive oil. That is probably the trickiest part because lots of things are cooked in butter in restaurants. I usually just choose what I want off an online menu and then call before hand to see if there are any issues.

A surprise, midweek post! Yah! I am so excited!! Glad you and your husband are getting out a little. It's important to get some adult time and talk to someone who understands and talks back. :) We have an almost 13 month old son and are going to my husband's side of the family for an Thanks giving lunch and then to my parents for dinner. 2 great meals in one day.... big sacrifice I know! I love your honesty but I promise it gets easier! It's just a season of your life and next Thanksgiving you will barely remember what those sleepless nights were like! You're doing great. Major props to you on cutting all of that out of your diet...I gave up and switched to formula:) Happy Thanksgiving!

It does get better I promise!! And I am beginning to think our husbands are on the same squad. He is in law enforcement and working Thanksgiving day but off Christmas too. I would much rather him be off Christmas anyway. And feel free to stop by my blog anytime with any mommy questions. Loving reading your posts, simply because I'm sure it's a bit of foreshadowing for my life soon (we're expecting our first any day). We bought things to prepare a Thanksgiving feast in the event the kiddo hasn't graced us with his presence yet... so it's just the two of us. Glad your hubby gets to be home for Christmas though :-)
